Pro-Life vs. Pro-Choice:

Since there is a Presidential election coming up, I thought it was time to address one of the most controversial subjects of our day. Should we vote pro-life or pro-choice? I thought it might be helpful to frame the issue in a slightly different light in order to better prepare you to pull the right lever in the ballot box of Life.

I guess the basic question is does life begin at the moment of conception? The answer is simplicity itself: Yes. But then again Life begins in every moment. And only every moment is Life. Oh, you were probable thinking I was referring to human life. No, I am referring to Life. Look around you right now. That is Life. Each moment is a fresh unfolding of the Divine Expression of the Present Moment. If you are very still and gaze into the Present, you will see that there is nothing else, but Presence.

So what is the purpose of Life? Life Itself. It seems that Life wants to experience Itself in each moment. By choosing Life, we go along with the program. We bath ourselves in the essence of what is all around us. We become so involved in What Is that we lose ourselves, that sense of a me who is “doing” the living.

Paul talks about this in Romans. He says we have a choice. We can experience the Spiritual Essence of Now or we can be drawn into the world of the flesh. The Greek word used for flesh literally means the meat that hangs on the bones. He is referring to the superficial, the drama, the soap opera of what we think of our lives and the world we create in our heads.

So in a very literal way we must choose. Our heads want to create this world of illusion where everything is all about “me,” this little “me” that feels like it lives in the head. In this world there is the promise of future fulfillment. Now is never good enough. We are going to finally have a life when we arrive at our goals, our dreams, when life has become what we want it to become. We will make it happen. We are going to use the 7 habits of highly me-oriented people. Nothing will stand in our way of achievement and a better life.

Here is what Jeff Foster says about that in his book Beyond Awakening.

"Your whole life, all your hopes and dreams and ambitions and goals: everything comes down to this.

Sitting on the toilet. Attending the funeral of a loved one. Listening to Mozart. Reading your favorite book. Screaming with pain in the middle of the night. Crying your eyes out. Laughing so hard your stomach hurts. Being diagnosed with cancer. Holding a newborn baby in your arms, looking deep into its eyes, shocked and saddened for a moment by the beauty and the sacredness and the fragility of this overwhelmingly mysterious thing we call 'life'."

Is it possible that we have missed something? While we were looking for a better life, did we overlook Life? If we did, how can we find it? What prevents us from finding Life in each moment?

We need to make a choice. Prior to the voices in our head, prior the ego’s desire for future fulfillment, prior to the story of “me” is the Presence of an Awareness that joyfully experiences Itself in each moment. How do we find that Presence? How do we become more aware? By becoming pro-choice. In each moment we are given a choice between the illusion of the ego-mind or Life Itself.

Witness Thought Transformation™ helps us see that we are not our thoughts; that the voice in the head is masquerading as “me.” Then we can make the choice we need to make, to choose Life.

Pro-choice vs. pro-life? In order to be pro-Life, it is absolutely necessary to be pro-choice and ever vigilant of the choice we make in each Moment. So how should we vote? Vote for Life.

Awake Right Now

Intensive Workshop

This October 10th and 11th my Teacher, Katie Davis and her husband, Sundance Burke, will be my guests at the Church of Religious Science in Fullerton. Click here two see the details.

Many years ago, I meet Katie via email and my life has never been the same. I invited her to come to town so that you might experience what I have experienced. I hope you will attend.

She and Sundance are close friends of Eckhart Tolle. In fact, she used to host Eckart and his teachings in her home in Seattle long before anyone had ever heard of him.

I hope you will go to her website and read her story (here) and then join us in October for this pivotal event.

If you would like more information, feel free to contact me.

All my best.
